INFORMATION FOR TODAY With whom can I share the Good News of Jesus this week?

Special thanks to Pastor Dan Jastram, missionary to Japan and son of our former pastor Rev. Robert Jastram, for preaching Saturday evening. Pastor Jastram will share information about his work in the fellowship hall following worship this evening.
Mites: 25% of our mites go for the 2-year International LWML mite goal of $2,000,000; including $100,000 to Lutheran Children’s Books for Families Worldwide – Lutheran Heritage Foundation. 75% of our congregational mites are used for our district goal of $137,000, including $15,000 for Gloria Dei School and Church Building in Cap Haitian, Haiti.
In Sunday School today, our children will study “The Conversion of Paul” and learn that as God did with Paul, so God does with us. Through the Law, we are crushed by the weight of our sin and are helpless. As God revived Paul through Ananias (Acts 9:1–31), He revives us through our pastors with the proclamation of His Word and the administration of His Sacraments granting forgiveness, life, and salvation to all who believe. Talk to your children about how the Sacraments and God’s Word revive you so that you may live as God’s child.
Congratulations to those who were elected to church council positions last Sunday: Secretary – Holly Downing, Co-Head Usher – Kirk Venzke, Board of Elders – John Duberowski and Gale Iverson, Board of Trustees – Leon Wunderlich, Endowment Fund – Deb Marquard, Board of Education – Teresa Harstad, Board of Evangelism – Joyce Malgren and Linda Maughan, Board of Finance – Paul Downing and Scott Fassett. A Big Thank You to those who are completing terms of service on our church council: April Adickes, Dave Schwartz, John Jirik, Becky Jirik, Ron Zaun and Greg Riedel.
A decision was made at our voters meeting to authorize our elders to work with Trinity, Carlos to call a seminary candidate who would serve half time at Carlos and half time at Immanuel. This is in place of applying for a vicar and would be the same cost for us. The goal is that within three years Carlos would need this person in a full-time capacity. Please keep this process in your prayers.

INFORMATION FOR YOU Thank you! Members of Immanuel and others; it was a warm and peaceful atmosphere at my birthday luncheon January 14. Your attendance was greatly appreciated. Preparing and furnishing the lunch, having very helpful individuals serving and cleaning up made for a relaxing and enjoyable event. Hopefully we all shared our Christian values through the fellowship and increased our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. In addition, your free will offering added $400 to the Immanuel Scholarship Fund. Glory and thanks be to God!                 Gene Moske
Congratulations to Dawn Stach for being elected to the Lutheran Island Camp Board of Directors and Becky Jirik for being elected to the LIC Foundation Board.
This week in WINGS, our children see how “Abraham Rescues Lot” by God’s grace and strength. People need to be rescued from all sorts of predicaments. God commands that I respect life. This Bible account is an Old Testament picture of how God rescued all of us from sin’s condemnation. In family devotions this week, discuss, “What are some Bible stories that picture God rescuing someone?”

Life Thoughts for February 4 – Hearts struggle and suffer when Satan suggests death to them (Mark 1:32). Often they feel “[m]y way is hidden from the Lord” and believe “my right is disregarded by my God” (Isaiah 40:27). With empathy like Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 9:19-22), imitating Lord Jesus, we have been healed to intercede. We can approach and assist knowing that His wings of forgiveness and everlasting resurrection (Isaiah 40:28-31) will likewise lift them from their afflictions. Loving God, include us in Your servanthood that increases strength to the powerless. Amen.
A basket of Prayer Shawls and Lap Robes is on the table by the elevator. They are for anyone in need of comfort, healing, remembrance, etc. Please put the name of those receiving the prayer shawl or lap robe on the register with the date.
Lutheran Island Camp is collecting old shoes in any condition. The bins for collection are located in the coat area. Shoes in good shape will be reconditioned for use in needy countries.
